WELCOME TO OUR LOCAL HISTORY SECTION
The town of Brentwood in Essex - with a population of almost 80,000 and twenty five miles from the centre of London is today a commutor town. But it can trace its historical roots back to the early middle ages when monks from a near by monastery built a small chapel at the point where the pilgrims track from the north crossed the old Roman road between London and East Anglia. Soon various traders catering to the pilgrims every need set up shop and public houses. . If you like a medieval motorway service area developed. The old town Hasn't changed much !

This page contains a number of links to various articles I have written over the years about the historical nature of my home town. Almost all were written for various local Newspapers in the area. If you searching for information. I hope you find what you have been seeking.
